We launched our Sakoran website just over four years ago and our Facebook page followed a year later. In that time we’ve launched ten distinctive products and our designer Yoh Nye Sakurai has won a major international award!
We’ve made projects to suit all skill levels though we think that anyone with enthusiasm and a passion for stitchcraft should be able to enjoy our kits.
Unsure where to start? Our Teeny Cushions are very pretty and easy to make. Ideal for beginners, so far there are two designs: Mrs Poppy’s Cottage and Holly Hawthorn’s Cottage. They make great little gifts. Fill with lavender or infuse with drops of essential oil to make a fragrant scissor keeper or drawer freshener – or just put one on the mantelpiece to admire your handiwork. We think you’ll love them!

If you’re itching to try one of our innovative 3D projects, our most recent addition is an ideal place to start. Snowdrift Cottage is a little gingerbread house that you can make as a Christmas tree ornament or a stand alone miniature. It’s sewn onto coloured fabric with larger count – and that means fewer stitches and a quicker finish.
At the intermediate level we also have our best selling kit Lambkin Hill. With its cute little sheep (made using stitches!) and fluffy cloud, this is a real treat.
Among our first projects were the miniature 3D cottages. We’ve pitched Bluebell and Rosebay Cottages at the ‘experienced’ stitcher while Buttercup Cottage is ‘advanced’ – but don’t be daunted! If you have a keen eye and a passion for sewing, we reckon anyone should be able to tackle these lovely designs with a bit of patience and determination.
Once you’ve made your cottage, what better than a pretty little hill to put it on? Merryfield Hill makes the ideal platform to show off your cottage. It has our usual pretty details and a beautifully designed tree.
Talking of trees, Cressida Chrimble’s Christmas Tree is another seasonal gift that makes an ideal Christmas tree ornament. It’s pitched at intermediate level, so not too tricky. If you fancy making something really exquisite, what better than Jennifer Jones’s Gingerbread Cottage? With gingerbread walls and roof, decorated with brightly coloured sweets, icing, candy canes and even its own snowman, this Gingerbread Cottage is a beautifully detailed miniature masterpiece.
Next year we’ll be producing yet more innovative designs and we have a few special treats up our sleeves. If you like our products, do follow us on Facebook, Pinterest or Twitter. Thank you for your interest, and here’s to a fabulous and creative 2017!
Our kits are designed to give maximum enjoyment to craft fans. Each one comes with a fully illustrated booklet that takes you step by step through the process of creating your own beautiful miniature. There’s advice on how to get the best from your stitching along with all the information you’ll need, including stitching diagrams, detailed charts and easy to follow instructions. However, if you should have a problem, we are always happy to offer advice – just drop us an email.
If you’d like to read more about our designer and his work, there’s a lovely illustrated interview at TextileArtist.org.
